THE CHOICE

I remember that day clearly, mid of May, terribly hot day. I went to the hostel to see my friends (I usually go thrice in a week), by the time I reached, it was almost 2 o’clock in the afternoon. I entered into the apartment, removed my shoes and straight away went to the bedroom, lied down on the bed breathing heavily.

One of my friend approached to me with a notebook and a page and said,”hey dude, let’s play one game”. He tore that page into two and wrote “Bat” on one piece and “Ball” on another. I was watching curiously and said to myself “what the hell he is doing? We are not kids anymore”. Then he folded each piece of paper in half 4 times, juggled both square chits, threw in front of me  and asked me to pick one. I picked one piece and gave to him; he scribbled something in the notebook. Again he did the same thing, juggling and throwing. He did that almost 15 times, I was screaming from inside with a smile on my face; “dude, please stop this nonsense”.
After doing this nonsense for 15 times he said, “You got Bat for 9 times and Ball for 6 times.”
“So”, I replied
“Every time I threw chits in front of you, you chose the chit which was closer to you”, he answered.
“So”
“You chose the chit, which was available to you easily, not the one which was away from you. Your CHOICE is important.”
Now I was irritated. “So”, this time angrily.
“I will tell you something in the evening, after some time “.

And he left the room, leaving me with the array of thoughts. I closed my eyes and repeated that word in my mind.

                                                   “CHOICE”

Eight months back I chose to quit my job from very good organization. That was a choice. Till this point my parents think I have not done anything productive in last eight months. Well I think differently, it was the most productive period of my life. I did lots of things that I would have never done while working in that prestigious organization. Ok then quitting job was good choice.

In Harry Potter and chamber of secrets when Dumbledore tells the young Harry Potter
‘It is our CHOICES, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.’
From Sunrise to Sunset, Every day, every moment, we chose something over something. And these choices create our identity, tell people around us what we truly are from inside. Some choices brings us joy, some brings disaster. Some choices bring need of working hard so that you can be happy in the long run. Our every choice is nothing but pursuit of happiness and happiness comes from within. I believe God gave us complete control over our destiny.
“He gave us……the power to choose.”

Og  Mandino, Author of “The Greatest  Miracle in the World” writes in his book, “Think of the choice you have made in your life and recall, now, those bitter moments when you would fall on your knees if only you had the opportunity to choose again. What is past is past….. Use wisely your power of choice.” Then he adds

Choose to love….rather than hate.
Choose to laugh….rather than cry.
Choose to create….rather than destroy.
Choose to persevere….rather than quit.
Choose to praise….rather than gossip.
Choose to heal….rather than wound.
Choose to give….rather than steal.
Choose to act….rather than procrastinate.
Choose to grow….rather than rot.
Choose to pray….rather than curse.
Choose to live….rather than die.
Enjoy this day, today…and tomorrow, tomorrow.

And at last, I choose to write few lines of the poem “The road not taken” by Robert Frost
“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I CHOSE the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.”

(I have used the word “chose” instead of “took”....)

The Knight's Dream

Well this is my first attempt to write a poem and I hope it will sound good when you will read it.
 Now some background of poem

Knight has left home behind and going to war, during his voyage he sit under the blue sky, fall asleep and  dream about love, war, peace and what he wants ……..

                             The Knight's Dream

                   Lying under the blue sky,
Let the white clouds go sailing by,
Closing my eyes, falling in the black,
                   Dreaming about what I lack

I dream, the home behind
A beautiful girl waiting at the door,
Waving at me but she looks unsure,
Smile on her face, gleam in her eye,
Like the moonlight in the gloomy night

I dream, the war ahead
Every shaft is shot, all arrows are spent,
Sword is notched and shield is split,
I am in battlefield encircled by enemy
I am exhausted but still little bit hope in me

I dream, the halcyon days
I dream peace and back home what I have missed
Wine, friends, family, my love and a beautiful kiss
Now I left battlefield behind and home is ahead
But for halcyon days many paths to tread

This knight is so much similar to THE COMMON MAN… who leaves home early, struggles whole day and come back to his loved ones at the end of the day... this poem is for every common man who is exhausted...

Glitter of The Sun on The Surface of The Water

First of all, I would like to wish happy and prosperous new year to all my friends.

Now , I am about to post an article written by D.H. Lawrence (1885-1930 an English novelist, poet, playwright, essayist, literary critic and painter ). I came across this article in one of the competative exam that I gave last month. So here you  are with A Piece Worth Reading.

                                        The Supreme Triumph
For man, the vast marvel is to be alive. For man, as for flower and beast and bird, The supreme Triumph is to be most vividly, most perfectly alive. Whatever the unborn and dead may know, they can not know the beauty, the marvel of being alive in the flesh. The dead may look after the afterwards. But the magnificent here and now of life in the flesh is ours, and ours alone, and ours only for a time.We ought to dance with a rapture, that we should be alive and in the flesh, and part of living, incarnate cosmos.I am Part of sun as my eye is part of me.That I am part of the earth my feet below know perfectly, and my blood is part of sea. My soul knows that I am part of the human race, my soul is an organic part of the great human soul, alone and absolute except my mind, and we shall find that the mind has no exixtence by itself, it is only the glitter of the sun on the surface of the waters, - Apocalypse, 1931.

Seize The Moment........

so much of our day to day focus seems to be on getting things done,
trudging our way through the tasks of living- it can feel like
a treadmill that gets you nowhere ; where is childlike joy?

We are not doing the things that make us happy, that which
bring us joy; the things that we can not wait to do because
we enjoy them so much. This is the stuff that joyful living
is made of - identifying your calling & committing yourself
wholehearted to it.

When this happens, each moment becomes a celebration of you;
there is a rush of energy that comes with feeling completely
immersed in doing what you love most -
